Fair point but I doubt that Port Colborne will see a thicket of midrises any time soon...
What are you basing that statement on? I wonder because it is fascinating the difference between people’s assumptions and the reality on the ground. 🌞

There are actually a large number of proposals about to come to fruition, many along the canal. The largest is 3 towers of 25s each. I am not being clever about this as I didn’t even know where PC was until a few years ago! It all has to do with waterfront land near a retail strip.

The locals keep opposing the numerous new developments but it is a bit of a lost cause. Even the planner for the town says that these folks have no idea what is about to happen. These NIMBYs must get a sense of being left behind and increasingly ignored. That must feel awful! 😱

It's so out of scale with the rest of the town 🤣
There's 5 storey apartments around the city, but yeah this is the first 9 storey structure...that isn't a grain/flour/industrial elevator 😅

This was an underutilized site that had been light industrial for years so it's a win to bring the density (72 units) and will help the shops and restaurants on West St, Port Colborne's most historic commercial street. People with money to spend as the condos range from ~$460k-$1M+, which is a lot for a condo in Niagara.

Which project are you referring to? The one in Welland on Niagara St?
