Toronto Ryerson Student Learning Centre | 50.59m | 8s | Ryerson University | Zeidler

Thank you so much for sharing your beautifully composed photographs with us! You've really captured the essence of the building while it's still fresh and brand new, on the eve of its soft opening!

Gorgeous photos as always, Marcanadian!

So excited to take a tour when I get the time. Does anyone know how far John Q Public can venture in?

As far as I could tell, all floors will be accessible. There are obviously some lecture rooms that will likely be off limits since they had card readers by the entrance, but all the large open spaces should remain open.

One of the many great aspects of this building for me is now students can walk from this building all the way down to Mutual and Gould, without having to step outside. Given the last two winters, that thought brings tears of joy. Now if only South Bond was connected...

I've noticed that renovations in the existing library have begun, I'm guessing they are going to be modifying the space that is being vacated as all the student services move into this building.

Walked by last night and noticed people standing on the front steps already, despite the building not even being open. Can't wait until tomorrow to check it out.

As much as I"m happy to have this anywhere in Toronto - imagine if this had been built on the waterfront with a small park around it. Perhaps as an art gallery, museum, or other similar asset. This is such an amazing design that it has literally surpassed it's local environment. I think this - placed on the waterfront and surrounded by greenery, would have been a show stopper.

Some people claim that the proposed Waterfront Innovation Centre has plagiarized the design of this building. So there you go :).

Why would Ryerson, a school desparate to actually establish a "campus" from a collection of buildings, have any interest in building on the lakeshore?

I think he's speaking hypothetically. In architectural terms the building, as a structure not as something owned by Ryerson, would be great down on the Lakeshore. And I agree with him.

Actually, they are - it's the Waterfront Innovation Centre, but I digress. ;)

Today was the unofficial opening. I am loving it here, but there is huge influx of students checking it out. Also, only two of the 4 elevators are working; I've taken the stairs to the 8th floor 4 times today, good workout.

The elevator issue is pretty big, hope they get it fixed soon. The floors are getting really hot from the sun too, they have to learn to use the blinds properly, especially for the 4th floor which is appropriately named "The Sun".

They will certainly be blasting the AC in the summer.

It's already pretty crowded, if not super crowded. The library itself still seemed crowded, so… where were all these people studying before? Hallways in Kerr, etc?
