Can anyone tell me the best way to get to the Leslie spit? Is biking over the quickest way? I tried going with my car a couple months ago but the parking lot was closed and it seemed like an incredibly far walk even if I was to park near by there.

Yes, biking is the best way to access the park. It's a very long walk!

The spit is one of the east end's great secrets. I love its patchwork, synthetic nature - and no overt manicuring, either. It's just a wild place that's a haven for birdwatchers and urban enthusiasts who want the feeling of getting away while still being very much in the city.
