Toronto Richmond Adelaide Centre: EY Tower | 188.05m | 40s | Oxford Properties | Kohn Pedersen Fox

The Telus Garden office tower in Vancouver will have raised floors
- but it looks like a consequence will be ugly ceilings.
Note that the sprinkler heads are above the pipes, meaning no drop ceiling.

ALSO - once the furniture is in place - would it really be easier to run cables, etc. under the floors?
Wouldn't you have to move furniture?

VanCity Buzz takes a tour of the Telus Garden office building:

The services are under the floors, but it looks like the ceilings will remain unfinished (?).
The fire sprinkler heads are above the pipes, meaning there won't be a drop ceiling - at least on this floor.
That's a bit odd for an office tower, isn't it?
Maybe that's Amazon "high tech" space and they want an industrial look? Do the ceiling heights look low?
I wonder if Bull, Housser & Tupper (law firm) will have the same finishes?

Generally speaking no - the raised floors are designed with openings for cables, etc. You can also replace existing floor panels with one with openings. Certainly it's much easier than running cables up the ceiling and back down.

Second (and larger) crane erected last night in the center of the footprint. South 2/3rds has been dug down with foundations and some pouring having taken place, north third is still dirt ramp up to surface.

I'm excited to see this tower go up. It'll be somewhat more interesting than bay adelaide. Here's hoping they stick true to the rendering. If only it was a couple hundred feet taller but hey what can you do.

If all the office buildings at Front & Simcoe are built, how many people on UT think it will be the new CBD? or will their be enough build-up in the current CBD area to still hold the trophy ?

The Front & Simcoe node is really no more than an intersection whereas the traditional CBD takes up over a dozen blocks. Regardless, they're close enough together that I consider the new towers at Front & Simcoe to be an extension of the CBD. There's really no clear dividing line between them.

It's just some buildings.
