Ignoring the first half of your 'sentence', which is nonsensical, why should the US care? This isn't their city or their country. Beautifying it isn't their problem. Secondly, have a quick look at the sorts of embassies & consulates the US has built in the post-9/11 era. From what I've seen they're far, far more bunker-like than this, putting security well above all other concerns. If the US were to move their consulate it might be a case of 'careful what you wish for'.

It's actually really not that bad in person, and much better than the derelict condition it was in before. This development is on overall plus for the area and the city, imho. Not to mention, I'm sure there has been MUCH worse than that in this city.

I actually really like the one Bedford one and the RCMI doesn't offend me... But High Park is brutal and I work nearby so I shake me head at it quite often. One Bedford though I always look at thinking that is a nice condo when I get out of St. George station.

I first saw that one in person a couple years ago. My first reaction was that facade looks like it's thoroughly imprisoned by those brutal columns. At least One Bedford and RCMI facades have room to breathe and showcase their details in some form.
