There's no set timeline yet. But it may possible for construction to start within 2 years or so, based on the typical planning process, and under the assumption that condo sales go on the market beginning next year.
Anyone know how Daniels managed to buy this lot? It seems like the most clear cut example of how inept or corrupt CMHC is..
Per realnet the lot was bought for $17m in 2020 with AOR zoning and a confirmed GFA now of 504,084 sq ft .. this would be $35 psf/GFA ... In a market where Daniels is selling condos at $1,100-$1,200 psf.
Why did this "Market Block" not go to Market through a listing agent? it would have sold for at least $100-$150 PSF of GFA providing Toronto Community Housing an additional $30-$55m which I understand they desperately need to deliver affordable units that were originally committed.
Why did council not amend the by-laws to enforce a provision for affordable housing on this block?
if you read the detailed revision lists for this on the AIC you can see Urban Design and Planning really had their way with this one. All of that white is EIFS.
