Is that park on top of the Harbour Square parking garage private space?

Yes, this is the roof garden of 33 Harbour sq. It's located on top of much hated by everyone parking garage. Starting tomorrow we can have BBQ parties if there is no dust from the construction.

Howcome they painted lines on the asphalt if the final layer hasn't been poured yet? Looks like it still needs another inch to cover over manhole covers and sewer grates and match up with existing road.

So that there's lines there during the weeks to months before they put down the final asphalt. Typically they will put a bit of asphalt around the sewers and maintenance holes until then.

This light pole is already damaged - tilted from someone exiting the loading dock of RBC Waterpark.

Fresh trees going in now. Let's hope they survive!

(Apologies for the reflection of the office radiator in the top)

Cool!
Why wouldn't they survive? WT has an exceptional record with their Silva Cells and trees... Have you seen how wonderfully mature the tree canopy of the Allee at Sugar Beach is after just 4 years?

This project will be a good test of whether street trees can thrive with the right planting conditions (thanks to Silva cells and watering in the early years). They probably will, but even Bloor Street in Yorkville hasn't exactly been a success in spite of generous space for roots and watering. Salt, dog piss and the harsh heat that comes off of asphalt surfaces in the summer all make for a difficult growing environment. It's crucial to find the right species that can handle the conditions, which Waterfront Toronto probably did.

Look at the brighter side, I am sure the design of the space can be improved even further, given the advances in landscaping and greenroof technologies.
