What is that box with windows on the right? Looks hideous whatever it is.
It's as if the builders started with the sharp, snazzy five story podium and when it was time for the tower they said "f**k it."
I'm wondering that, too.
The massing of this project was on the right track but the materials are all so cold, sterile, and cheap-looking that it looks bleak and ugly. It's a shame but execution of an idea is key. An interesting design concept isn't worth much if the result in reality is poorly executed.
The city flubbed this one so badly I hope they learn their lesson. Never give a developer (especially one who has 0 experience building in Toronto) cart blanche to build an entire community on such an important piece of land.
And how could they have done that? No other developer stepped forward.
