It would be nice if we could sprinkle in a bunch of pencil **** supertall towers in the skyline. New York has really elevated its already best-in-the-world skyline with these towers.
Yes but a lot of those buildings are not aging well or have been stopped completely due to improper engineering You have buildings like the Morgan Chase that are absolutely gorgeous and then you have stuff like billionaires row where half of the buildings facades are cracking and becoming dangerous to pedestrians below

The closest we have to a pencil tower is 50 Scollard, and I think that distinction will last for quite a while. By design pencil tower condos only have a few units per floor. Some of the pencil towers in NYC only have 1 unit per floor. That’s definitely not economically viable here, even during the real estate boom. Now developers are attempting to cram as many units as possible even in so-called high-end projects like Forma.

Of course, we already have the mother of all pencil towers (and long before NYC had one): the CN Tower ;)

There's this weird optical effect when building a tower even with a hefty floor space that it will appear to be more skinnier the higher up the it will go. This is more so with a residential towers since they have less floor square footage (or metre'age) than office ones...naturally making them look pencil thin when surpassing the 300m range...

...to note though, I can't say this is the same for 50 Scollard as I suspect that was designed to be flounder if it were a fish.

270 Park is hideous.

Level 97 now but the core is probably at 98. No fan fare for 2nd to 300m. The elevator is being bumped up too. Maybe more glazing on the way soon.

This looks like LED strip lighting on the balcony glass to me. I guess that’s why the delay on installation.

Maybe they will add a line up the middle of the balcony glass too or is that an expansion gap for sway? :)
