^^^ The first pic, the only historical overhead shot I could find, does show many buildings that are still standing although many/most have been dumbed down, ie, their cornices, pinnacles, other flourishes and/or roofs have been removed. To get a true sense of the loss here, I'd have to find and post street-level pix and pix of individual buildings--beautiful, magnificent buildings--that are gone forever.

St. Lawrence could have been Toronto's "Old Montreal" but alas...
 
This fellow was ripping up the surface and below... (along what will be the extended Harbour St) where the old dismantled structure once resided.
So we don't get fooled again? <.<

(Forgive me...I was being a bit silly. Probably in a place where I shouldn't be. :( )

We will never get those historic buildings back
So true!! And to add to that the surrounding condos don't even reflect the neighbourhood, that is also the sad part. Why is Toronto so blind to the architectural end of the design to match the area, lost a great opportunity to add to the current old designs to develop it kind of like old Montreal at least somewhat.
