Why is there a gap between the building and the street?
Harbour Street is being realigned south of the build site. That existing section of Harbour will be turned into a public space

I think "an old pier" really very old from 1840's (both image said 1842), in 2nd image, red line could be one but green line would be one for sure

Might be an obvious question but what is happening to the Toronto Star building? A complete demo? If so where is the Toronto Star office moving to?

Click on the database file link near the top of the page, then on that page you'll find a number of links to front page stories. Read through them, starting at the bottom, (the oldest), first. They'll likely answer your question, and more.

I don't think those piers would be long enough - those would be under the rail corridor today.

I do understand but boat come from europe should be big boat can fit for this pier should be long enough? anyway after 1920's, they did add new land by dump soil then I know this site was empty and parking lot for many years like there is no build then where "wood debris" come from? If I was right theory that "wood debris" was come from oldest pier from 1840's? I been research over toronto's history like picture and map then I know there is nothing, just pier or empty land, sighing, I hope I'm wrong
