Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Looks like it's going backwards. There was more activity at the site a month ago.
Huh?
Last month there were shoring rigs and now we have excavation and tieback drilling. That's obvious progress.

It's a whole story deeper than it was a month ago. This thing is flying by typical standards!

Oh wow, you're right. At first glance I thought it was still at grade. Seems quite quick. Anyone know off-hand how deep it's going? Can't wait to start seeing it go in the other direction!

It's an optical illusion in the above pic. We are still at grade. The edges have been excavated for tie-backs. The first real excavation started today...

Dump trucks in queue this morning, making progress. Counted 15 at one point, but for most of the day just a few. The perimeters are about 12 feet deep now, the rest as you see below.

I'm wondering why Pinnacle would shore the north and west walls of this pit. I'd imagine the cost of doing so, then removing it all later wouldn't be great for the overall pro-forma. Unless they are just going to pierce through at a number of strategic points, kind of like how City Hall's garage is split into north and south sections with only the drive aisles cutting through the wall.

Might just be playing it safe in case the other two projects don't go through? It's a good callout though - will be interesting to see if/when Phase 2 begins.

The south wall will be next to the new and extend Harbour St E. The present curve from Yonge to Lake Shore E will disappear as Harbour moves towards Jarvis and the Loblaws Store parking lot
