Toronto Pearson International Airport

A bit of poor communication there. They do say that they are working on a new master plan but it's not as prominent as other items.

Oh, I saw that at Terminal 3 back in March, and had completely forgotten about it (was flying to UK with small kids - didn't sleep again for quite a while).

That was awful. And the tables (with *&@(# ipods everywhere) were all but completely abandoned, and everyone squished into not enough seats. Very bizarre.

Why didn't people just sit at the tables with the ipods?

That’s what I was wondering.....there is no rule you have to use the iPads is there?

I think it's a subconscious barrier. Even though you don't have to use the Ipods there's a sense that they are there for a purpose and perhaps people are less likely to sit there. Not to mention the space they take up on the counters which one could have used for their own items (tablet, ereader, book, magazine, food)

In preparation for the Master Plan (still not up) a good read is the AIF (2016) and the Q2 MD&A (up to June 2017)

Interesting to note that they purchased some office buildings in the first 1/2 of 2017 worth around $160m. They rent these to 3rd parties. However you have to wonder what the long-term plan is for these buildings.

Where are these office buildings located?

Anyone can sit there, they don't need to be customers of the immediate food outlets anyways - and the amount of space the iPads take up is minuscule.

I know they bought the hotel at the end of runway 6L/24R in order to protect from it being expanded into the approach path of the runway. It was subsequently sold with height restrictions. This is from the tour guide on a tour I went on a few years ago.

Perhaps this is a similar situation. There will be twinning of runway 5/23 in the long term so that approach/departure needs to be protected. Or it could be properties located where they plan to build the transit hub

They have signage saying you can sit there and don't have to buy food/drinks!

I find the ipads glitchy but am happy to use the free wifi and chargers on my own device!

Still no masterplan upload. You'd think someone would notice by now.

I think they just didn't do communication right - it doesn't make sense to have a homepage announcement when something like a Masterplan release is probably going to be accompanied with mainstream media coverage first. Since the latter didn't happen, the announcement should have been clear about it being an upcoming release.

That's what I figured. I don't believe there was much fanfare last time after-the-fact. I remember media picking up on it days later via one of their show and tell deep dives.
