XYZ Storage has acquired commercial site at 33 Laird Drive

July 24, 2021

XYZ Storage, 1 Laird Drive, has purchased the commercial site known as 33 Laird Drive, sources confirm. The property is the location of a long-promised retail development that would have included, among other tenants, an Organic Garage grocery store. But the project has languished since it was first made public six years ago. The Bulldog has reached out to XYZ for comment.

Extended frontage on Laird

The purchase of 33 Laird by XYZ creates a long frontage on the east side of the street stretching from Canvarco Rd. to the railway tracks. It raises reasonable speculation about the possible re-making of the intersection of Millwood Rd. and Laird Drive from a three-way to a four-way intersection.

The site is being leased by Strathallen since 22-11-2022, and it does not appear Organic Garage will be a tenant as all suites are available for rent inquiry (and it's not included in the latest render).

There appears to be no construction progress since the Nov 2020 Google street view. The loopnet page suggests 2026 as the completion date and that it will be up to 4 storeys.

Don’t know what is going on with this site but the land has exploded in value since the storage facility/grocery store was proposed. Taken 30 July.

This is site has made its owner no money for several years now, but it has had expenses.

I don't understand how people get into business without understanding how to to run one.

Time is money.

They had a signed lessee that could have been paying rent the last 2 years...........
