Toronto Ontario Line: King-Bathurst Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

February 9: Crews have been busy removing the last pieces which are to be saved the eventual redeployment in the new King Bathurst Station buildings - the north building components to be retained appear to be all gone, while the south building is now close behind. The structural reinforcement of the south (Banknote) building wall sections to be retained in place appears to be complete. Once the rest of the building is fully detached from the portions which are being retained in place, the remaining demolition should proceed quickly, using mechanical equipment, as opposed to the manual work approach taken to date.

North side building first, then the south side buildings:

February 13: Ongoing work on the north building - a section of the former Regulars facade being sectioned for panelization. On the south side of King Street, mechanized demolition of the south portion of the Banknote building is now underway.

Demolition activities are moving along very quickly now. The buildings on the north side of King Street are virtually gone at this point. The former EFS building on the south side of King Street, and the residential building immediately behind it on Stewart Street have also been completely demolished. The porting of the Banknote building immediately behind the to be preserved King Street facade is still being taken down manually, bit by bit, but the southern portion of the building is being taken down by mechanized equipment - it is disappearing very quickly now.

First, what is left of the buildings on the north side of King Street, then work underway on the south side buildings.

It would be really cool to see these bricks repurposed in some way in the station, like a wall or as decoration around pillars or something.

February 22 - more demolition photos.

Two more from today - North side of King Street, a couple of panelized facade sections ready to go to off-site storage for the next few years, waiting to be incorporated into the new station structures. Second photo, just rubble left for most of the lot south of King Street.

there was no residential building on Stewart St. that was demolished btw

We live across the road from the buildings on the north side of Stewart Street. While there was some business use unites in the brick buildings backing on the Banknote building, they were definitely residential or live work units there. We met some of the residents - including incidents of handling mis-directed mail and newspaper deliveries.

I do not know where you live, but sorry - you are incorrect regarding these buildings - they was definitely a residential component to them.
