Any link or reference for this? It might *somewhat* put some sense to his "Ontario Place Ferris Wheel Special" segment.
As was already noted in the tread, @Woodbridge_Heights mistook that reference for one about the Crosstown West extension.

1) We already have a levy to raise $1B over 30 years. This looks like its calling for at least $5B from the city, possibly more. Good luck with that?

2) Why the hell should we raise a levy to pay for infrastructure the Province is bullying us to take over? I'd rather put everything on pause until the next election, quite frankly.

Bullying? Isn’t this a transpo forum? I don’t understand. You’re obviously turning this into a political debate which is regrettable. You’d prepare the Province to go further into debt I assume? We’re already the biggest sub sovereign debtor on the planet.

I can’t stand Wynne and her socialist agenda but if she said we need $10 billion to build new transit downtown and it’s going to cost every Toronto resident $100/month for 36 months I’d prepaid my share tomorrow because it’s a massive win for the City.

So, thoughts on the 2028 opening date? Is this in any ways feasible?
Not by any of the players we know about right now.

There's a silver lining to the impossibility of what the City or QP are presenting: Private Enterprise will look at this and state (gist): 'It seems they're serious, bordering on desperate, to do this. They've committed themselves without a hope in hell of following through. We can make a proposition to build it for them, and we can push our own needs on them to do it. What could they do, say no?"

The danger though is that Ford is so incredibly erratic, they'd want to sign with someone else. Someone who can finish a complete sentence, let alone spell and speak. Here's hoping someone with that ability presents themselves at QP.

To anyone thinking this can't happen, one acronym: REM

The model
Launched in July 2015, the model allows CDPQ Infra to act as the owner-operator of certain infrastructure projects while assuming responsibility for the planning and financing phases, execution and operation.

An exclusive subsidiary of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, CDPQ Infra will generate commercial returns for la Caisse and its partners while limiting the financial impact of infrastructure projects on the government’s balance sheet.

Concerned about Private Ownership? Understood, watch it closely, and all can benefit. Concerned about Doug Ford and manifest mental deficiencies? Understood. Avoid at all costs. That advice is for both citizen/taxpayers and investors alike. There's bitter irony in that Private Capital is vastly more trustworthy and predictable than the Premier.

Only a very large development would justify having a terminal station at Ontario Place.

We've seen this layout proposed by Metrolinx before (terminating at Exhibition Place). The primary intention was to terminate GO lines at Bathurst/Spadina and dump passengers onto the DRL into downtown.

That doesn't sound like a very good idea.

Honestly if you have a better idea to deal with the overcrowding at Union station id love to hear it.

The only way it will work however is if people getting off on the Spadina GO station are allowed to ride the Ontario Line into downtown for free.

Just like the Mascouche Line and the REM in Montreal. No different.

An *affordable* housing shortage.

We have a shortage of all kinds of housing, subsidized or not.

That doesn't sound like a very good idea.

Metrolinx is full of bad ideas.

The best part of Doug's announcement is we now have a new fantasy map.

Honestly it kind of miffs me that Montreal and the REM are getting so much money from CDPQ Infra, and here in Toronto we have to pay $5 billion?

The Ontario Line is now similar to the REM in tech and scope.

Meanwhile the Ontario Pension Plan is funding the f$^%ing Blue Jays.

Wow, and I thought that Ford couldn't get any more incompetent!

Note that the relief line now stops at Eglinton. That's not going to help the Yonge line.

Are we really going to rename this thread anytime a corrupt conman promotes a clearly unworkable hustle?
