Agreed! Shouldn't be long before they start demolition of the north/west portions of Eastern and Queen bridges. These are very fast in TO standard…
They are about a year behind schedule on these bridges. I’m assuming it’s several years of prep work (that is behind schedule as the third track was supposed to be laid and operational by autumn 2024) but once that’s done the bridges go up in a blink. These are very fast in TO standard…
I believe they are building the Gerrard/Carlaw Station (elevated bridge structure station platform) part of the OL contract instead of these rail corridor expansion. They are about a year behind schedule on these bridges. Does the larger bridge over Gerard need to be replaced or can that area of the corridor fit the OL portal and 4x GO tracks?
Im curious what those metal supports are doing? I can't believe this portion is going to take 5-6 years by the mall.
I believe they don't technically need to fit the OL tracks and the portal into the existing corridor at Gerrard, as they've expropriated part of the former No Frills site for the portal (which is why the No Frills had to close). The station itself will be on a new bridge next to the existing GO bridge. They are about a year behind schedule on these bridges. So unless they're also raising the GO corridor at that location, they probably can keep the existing bridge. And while we should never put a ton of stock in renders, the renders of Gerrard Station seem to show the current GO bridge, for whatever that's worth.

I don't actually see Ontario line tracks on this diagram? I seems it's just the four GO tracks? Am I wrong? This diagram has more detail and makes it look like it's all one bridge but that might be just for simplicity's sake.

You're totally right. Just disregard me!I don't actually see Ontario line tracks on this diagram? I seems it's just the four GO tracks? Am I wrong?
Also I thought there wasn't going to be a GO station here?
How old is this diagram?
The existing bridge structure over Gerrard and Carlaw is wide enough to fit 4 tracks as were the structures over Dundas and Logan, but the corridor needed to be moved southeast before the Gerrard/Carlaw bridge structure to fit the Ontario Line in the same corridor.I believe they don't technically need to fit the OL tracks and the portal into the existing corridor at Gerrard, as they've expropriated part of the former No Frills site for the portal (which is why the No Frills had to close).
