Let me guess who wants that CRU: 711, Beckers, Mac's Milk or a Giant Tiger? (Or maybe SAAN?)

hmmm, it's supposed to be dark ironspot brick, which is supposed to be deep plum in colour with a slight iridescent effect at certain angles.
The laneway is pretty dark so maybe it appears more grey in shadow which I hope is the case. It would be a shame if this appears too similar to Six50 next door which is another Core-designed building.
I do like how the windows are turning out.

50 shades...

I did take a look at it earlier today, though they only laid a few square feet of it.
It definitely looks different than the grey bricks next door at Six50, a warmer grey but hard to tell if it has the subtle plum hue as planned as the sky started to darken before today's rainstorm.

The bricks were specified as being Dark Iron Spot on the architectural drawings. Dark Iron Spot has the characteristic subtle purple-ish brown iridescent tint. UrbanToronto also wrote about the warm plum coloured brick when the project was first launched.
This is what Dark Iron Spot is supposed to look like (though it really depends on what monitor you're viewing on):

We will have to wait and see when they lay more of it and on the front of the building.

A shipment of brick just arrived. In person they definitely do not look grey. The manufacturer's label says it's Ebony, but it looks more brownish-purple.
The podium is going to look really nice.

They don't look black or grey, but I like them. And I hate, hate, hate precast brick panels, so I'm happy about this. I don't care what anyone says about the (so-called) quality and look of precast and tinted 'brick' panels - they look and feel cheap - I don't think anything compares to actual hand laid brickwork.
