You're saying things that are not accurate. You have no evidence, because there is none, you're simply making stuff up.

how do you know? where's your proof it wouldn't work?

no the burden is on you to prove it. you're the one that made the foolish comment, prove I'm wrong
Anyone who has followed this project from the beginning knows that there is no hope of profit, the lender/owner is only trying to minimize how much they lose. There is plenty of documentation in this thread if you choose to educate yourself.

that's because it wasn't handled properly from the start. if it was then they can potentially make a profit

There are many industries that can generate profit. Why should government put money into a high risk residential project targeted at an ultra-high income clientele? What you are proposing isn't even a public pension fund making an investment decision - you are proposing the government incur debt to provide financing for a private entity to build a hotel/residential tower. It isn't about a strategic investment in any key industry, with lots of jobs at stake. So what's the case for it?

The ones in the foreground made developers rich while 1BW bankrupted its developer and is losing millions. kind of illustrates how we end up with a city of banality
...er..to be clear, at least three of those towers where built by a developer that went belly up. And how. So it should be comforting that banality doesn't always equal riches eternal here.

it's over. the government should be looking for ways to make money if they benefit from it
I get that Doug has not always been the best example for this....but to be clear, the government should not and never be in the business to make profits. That's not what governments should do or be about. Full stop.

the potential is there to make a ton of money. it's a world class building with the latest infrustructure so it will make money.
The infrastructure that was put into this project were a new type of structural loading for Toronto and faster elevators no latest infrastructure was put into this project Yes it is a nice building but the government should not be involved in helping private companies make profit that money should be invested in the infrastructure for the mass population as for the tone you've taken with multiple of the people here I would just like to say as somebody who has learned a lot from all of those people that you should take the time to learn from them and not belittle them this isn't a place to fight It is a place that we have discussions regarding buildings and the developers decisions regarding them
