As can be seen in one of skycandy's photos above (copied below), they have now erected a 'secondary crane' (a derrick) on roof of Monde and seem to be starting to dismantle the main one.
I must admit I rather like how that derrick punctuates the top of the building. Makes me wonder if a tall white spire would actually compliment the look of this already gorgeous building.
I agree. Not a massive one, but as mentioned, one just like Commerce Court's transmission tower/spire, seen here when 88 Scott Street was still a toddler. The spire atop the former Trump tower (barely visible to the right of Scotia Plaza) is ok, but I think the triangular supports at the base of CC's spire are what give it visual interest - a rocket-like appearance. A very simple, clean and unambiguous rooftop addition, in sharp contrast to the disaster above First Canadian Place.
I realize this is just wishful thinking and would never happen, and neither practical nor likely even permissible. Moshe Safdie and his team of cracker jack architects would be rolling their eyes in disgust at the mere suggestion of plunking a spire on Monde's rooftop, especially now, as an afterthought. LOL.
