This project looks way taller than it actually is cause Bloor St is criminally underdeveloped; especially as a major street with a subway line underneath.
Yes, and then they whine about skyscraping condos sprouting out everywhere in Toronto! If the city allowed 6-8 storey residential buildings all along Bloor / Danforth from Scarborough to Etobicoke (following the subway line), developers wouldn’t need to build 40-60 storey condos on every street where they’re allowed, would they?

You would have to cover much of the city with 4-8 storey condos and apartments to avoid high-rise buildings in general. I have to say that I enjoy Bloor Street West's character of narrow low-rise density west of Bathurst with narrow storefronts and a great deal of variety in terms of buildings. Narrow infill buildings of 6-8 storeys would probably fit in fine and make the street more interesting, though.

Of course there will be high-rise buildings in a city the size of Toronto! And as per my handle (Spanish for skyscrapers), I obviously don't mind that there are so many of them here (quality is a different issue). It's all the NIMBYs that are bemoaning the 'Manhattanization' of Toronto while at the same time opposing proposals such as the 4-storey Dale Avenue condo in Rosedale. The alternatives would be to build subdivisions on the greenbelt and more highways to connect them to the city (I suspect they will not like that either) or perhaps let's discuss the elephant in the room, ie. limiting population growth, including immigration.
 
You know that Cristy Park spot is great place to asses what's being built around town...as it's a fairly unobstructed view from to the south, east and core of the city. So it's not surprising seeing Mirvish Village sprouting up there like it is in its full glory. And for what that's worth.
