I know the site is tight for space, but I think the frontage on the SW corner is way too close to the sidewalk.

The new Patient Care Centre at MGH opens to the public January 23rd, 2022.

As part of their 'countdown' to opening the new facilities they're putting up some pics and info on various new features of the building.

First up:

"The Michael MacMillan and Cathy Spoel Terrace, also known as the public terrace, will be open to staff, patients, caregivers and visitors. It is located on the fourth floor of the Thomson Centre and patients and visitors will be able to access the public terrace on G4"

Then:

"The Huband Moffat Family Terrace, also known as the mental health terrace, is built for mental health patients and their families. It is located on the fifth floor of the Thomson Centre. "

Just to plunk some news here.

The Hospital has apparently been evacuated due to a massive gas leak with a main being struck earlier this morning.

If you have any relations in this or any other GTA hospital impacts are likely, as I imagine will be the case for 911 as that's a lot of medical transports.

* Other media outlets are saying they have not initiated the evacuation of the hospital yet.

So, I was by here today......

The hospital has its demolition permits for the now obsolete buildings, but most don't yet appear completely decommissioned save one.

First, we see the wing they are mostly retaining/restoring "D" Wing is the one that's entirely boarded up:

Above: Left, boarded up is "D" wing to partially restored/retained, the building at the centre is C wing and is due to be demolished, along with A and B Wings to the right.

"F" Wing can't be seen here, it's also to come down, it's the twin of "D" to the south of "C"

A reminder at this juncture of what the final version of this particular project will look like:

Left: Retained Emergency Ward and various other depts; "D" wing is foreground Centre, the 70s vintage "H" wing is background centre, and the new patient care tower (T Wing) is on your right. All that green space adjacent Coxwell currently has "A" and "B" wings on it.

Currently, you can still enter/exit via the Coxwell lobby of A/B wing. They even have a Christmas Tree up. Didn't take a picture of that.....

Next we have a pic of the small opening between "B" Wing and the new build:

A closer zoom on the soon to be demolished "F" wing:

The Coxwell frontage of the new build is still behind hoarding:

Finally a single shot of "T Wing"; the new build, mostly up and running:
