Toronto Maple Leaf Square | 185.92m | 54s | Lanterra | KPMB

Anybody know what was on the site previously? I don't mean the parking lot, but long time before that. The excavation has uncovered some old wooden foundations/walls (?) so i was just curious.

Those would be pier foundations, the Telus site had a bunch as well.

^ Yes, the waterfront used to be located just south of Front St. When the railway was built it ran right along the waters edge.

Piers..as in for ships.. all of the land south of Harbour Street is infill.

All the land south of Front is infill. Hence the name Front Street. As in fronting the water.

cools. thanks. I had thought they were from old railway buildings.

Interesting, looks like the built a bridge for the excavation work. Don't think I've seen that before.

Me neither; it's really quite striking. Quite an investment they're making in that big giant hole. Have they hit bottom on the left hand side yet? Or is it just a way-station en route to an even bigger giant hole?
