So this would go between Don Roadway and Saulter Street South?

Given the bend, I would say east of Saulter Street South - but we might be seeing a lot of block reoganization so it is unclear if the latter would even exist.

The sequencing here is a bit puzzling to me, given that we're many hundreds of millions (or potentially billions) of as-yet-uncommitted dollars away from the necessary reworking of the Don to facilitate the LD redev. I guess this is a matter of getting underway with whatever planning and design they can do independent of the rest of the redevelopment?

They're only looking at buying the land for the extension at this point, not building it yet. Probably cheaper to acquire now?

I'm a fan of the broadview alignment as well. I think this plan would be better if McCleary Park was extended all the way south to the channel - there's a nice relationship between the two smokestacks that I wouldn't want to be lost. As for those questioning the timing - this is how planning typically works. The planning of the West Don Lands started in the 80's with Ataratiri and slowly evolved over the next 30 years. Knowing where future right-of-ways are allows the city to stop landowners from building buildings in the middle of future roadways.

Glad to see they're including accommodations for potential future LRT service. I would have thought planning would prefer a line on Lake Shore rather than Commissioners, especially due to the connections to Queen's Quay and Cherry.

Aligning Broadview toward the Hearn does make a lot of sense, but something about it...I dunno. Seems a bit off. Looks like it's making a considerable beeline, and those using transit and wanting to travel between Broadview and LDL would be going out of their way quite a bit. It'd be quicker to walk between, say, East Harbour and Villiers Island (both potential mammoth areas/employment centres) than it would be to take the streetcar. I see all this area as one unified cohesive unit where travel between precincts should be quick and easy with the only barriers being natural ones - in other words not with a 1km roundabout route.

Somewhat related, but I feel it'd be smart to plan a quick-and-dirty non-revenue track from Leslie Barns along Commish or Lake Shore to either Carlaw, Booth, or Logan (or a one-way combo using two streets) and back up to Queen. In the case of emergency detours out of the yard in the AM.

I don't get why they aren't considering extending the Cherry streetcar to the beach. Seems to be avoiding the challenge of a swing bridge over the Ship Channel. It's cowardly, I tell ya.
In Amsterdam there are lots of canal bridges that lift or swivel with streetcars so it is hardly revolutionary to run streetcars over them. I would say the reason they are not currently thinking of extending LRT to Cherry Beach is that the demand for that level of transit in the southrly part of the Portkands is many decades away.

By the look of the 5th image it doesn't look like much is planned along Unwin beyond nature. The streetcar is extended to the Hearn though.
