Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Does anyone know the maximum residential square footage for Phase 1 of the project? (If the zoning’s even been decided yet.)

The Bridge has landed!

The Beverly MI is in Hamilton Harbour by the QEW and doesn't have the barge with it by the looks of the tracker.

Has the bridge been moved as no photos of it been moved so far?? Will have a look at it on Tuesday. Just as I post, photos show up.

I think this is the barge, back where it was when it first arrived Saturday a.m. Perhaps due to the high winds and waves expected later.

Looks to me as though the tug was sent off to Hamilton where it can dock and the crew have some down-time and then, when it is ready to return to Halifax/Montreal. it will pick up the barge en route. (I suspect it's not in the way were it is now. I assume it is a specialised barge the 'lives' in Halifax/Dartmouth where the bridge was made.

Wow that first picture is epic. Thanks for posting!

It also showcases the Shipping Channel well. While not really the focus of this project, I'm quite excited for the shoreline of that to be developed next - I love the width of it, could have a great "river district" feel to it.

The site not ready to place the bridge.

The extension to the ends of the bridge is currently hung to the underside of the bridge.

More up on the site

With the LRT now expected to go to a Polson Loop I wonder if we should expect another bridge in yellow to be procured, or if future transit bridges will be less elaborate. It is interesting that only a single transit bridge was ordered at first even though it was known that Commissioners and Cherry south would need one at some point.

Though I think that bringing the LRT to a new loop at Polson is a very good idea, I do not think anyone has yet agreed that this is the best place to install a (temporary) eastern terminus of the QQE LRT line. It may be too early to start worrying about the colour of the bridge that will be.

Buying bridges is not cheap and until recently there were no serious suggestions of bringing the QQE line much further east than Cherry so building 'bridges in waiting' was (reasonably) not on the to-do list.
