This plot of land has a nice, rounded curve on the west side. It would have made good sense for the building to follow that graceful curve and create a flat iron building look. (instead of that useless patch of grass on the corner curve - WTF?) It would also have been beautiful and given Liberty Village an iconic, or at least beautiful building and yet, that opportunity was discarded. So what do we get? Another ordinary, boxy building that doesn't help to animate the street or give anything back to the neighbourhood. Why not at least put some great retail spaces along Liberty Street?

The thing that this building has going for it, is that it's not all glass and grey spandrel. That is a HUGE plus in grey Toronto! The red brick, and the slight curve on the side, makes this building half decent but sadly, it easily could have been much better. (without even costing more money to build)

I really wish this one, along with the one under construction beside it, were never built. I really think Liberty Village as a whole would have benefitted much more if this middle plot of land was left as a park or some other form of community oriented open(ish) space, with the heritage former womens prison (I think) incorporated into it. With towers to the north and south of this building, and more on the way (eastern edge of the Liberty Market building, more coming to the south and north sides of East Liberty by Strachan, and I'm sure something will go ahead on that small parking lot adjacent to the presentation centre on the north side of Lynn Williams) I think the area would have turned out a lot better.

Boy, they really do LOVE that green glass in Liberty Village!

A building similar to the lipstick building in NYC would have been much better here. It would have fit in nicely, with the curves in the road. This shot looks kinda depressing, the way all those form one big mass of drab. I find it an unpleasant place to walk.

That's how I'm seeing this one too. It definitely isn't good but when compared to the shittiest of the shit that surrounds it, it's not bad either.
