Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I know its a Saturday.............but a for a project so far behind schedule...........an empty looking site does not speak well of the project managers here.

Time is money.........and they are very late indeed.
No kidding.

If one looks back in the thread for a shot of the PC Station 6 months ago, it will look the same as today, it not longer. More going on below than above that cannot be seen.

Manpower has been a problem for years that has cost the delays as well the lack of white hats of Mobilinx to oversee the project.

The funding announcement in Brampton is a joke as it was noted in January 2024 and again in 2025 that both extension were going ahead with no date when they will be done and will there be another P3 contractor doing the work. Given the current cost for Brampton extension is around $2.9 Billion, I expect the Feds are picking up somewhere around $700 Million to try to buy seats. The earliest I can see the Brampton extension in service is 2032-35

Last year, they were working 6 days a week to get things done before winter hit. This year, it makes me wonder if they're still doing that, or have returned to a 4/5 day work week.

I'm okay with these conditions. One would just have to look at the UrbanToronto map along the corridor or near it to see how many proposed developments there are - not to mention how many have yet to begin at a later date.

Sometimes, it feels like city council is swamped with requests for new buildings / communities, especially on the west side of Brampton.

Since the snow storm, they are working 6-7 days south of the CP bridge to Dundas, beyond that, I have no idea about the rest of the corridor.

Most of Main north from Ray Lawson to the Creek has plan development proposal in place as well for the downtown area.

I cannot speak to much to Brampton development, but Queen east of Main to Bramalea is supposed to see mid density to support the BRT. What I have seen for the westside, mainly low density with some high density locations, but too much low density. Like to see what all the conditions are for the LRT is in more detail.

Here's to hoping it continues. I'm really hoping to see an increase in work this year - It feels like we've been okay with progress, but there's always room for improvement.

100% agreed with low density on the west side. The issue I'm seeing in terms of housing starts is that the ward councillor isn't convinced that Brampton is growing fast enough, and that every new condo development needs a market impact assessment in order to tick a few boxes to satisfy his own needs. Meanwhile, smaller sections of detached/semi-detached/townhouses/rowhouses are approved without anyone batting a single eye on the west end. It's a little concerning to me because I'm seeing many people move into basement apartments at prices that are significantly higher than what would have been offered at a condo. Even the Uniti apartments at Mount Pleasant are cheaper than some of the prices I've seen for basement apartments that may not even be legal.

However, what is intriguing to me is that we have a Zum 561 on the west side that connects riders from Mount Pleasant and the West End to downtown Brampton, and the 501 that connects Downtown Brampton to Vaughan. Usually Zum lines aren't created unless they're experiencing a surge in ridership in different parts of the city. Whatever data they're looking at and interpreting, there must be a threshold that Brampton Transit needs to cross before we hear any more conversation on the Queen BRT. As it stands right now, it's more of a thought than it is a solid idea.

Planning and Development Committee approved a few things for the LRT corridor tonight. The new City official plan was approved for all wards and now goes to the province for approval once all the I's and T's cross. Max height for towers on Dundas and Hurontario to be 35 stories in a few places and a huge mistake.

They also approved a a townhouse for 9 units 3 floors tall at Pinewood south west corner that has a single story house been used as an office building. Traffic lights will be install where the is none now and have an effect on service some what.

Took a walk to Dundas to catch a bus to a meeting and had a look at the corridor from Elm.

Concrete base for the guideway has been poured from Central Pkwy with the last section at Fairview being pour. 80% of the guideway south of Fairview to the bridge has been poured and looks like some was done today. Southbound is rough looking compared to what was poured for the northbound. Crews grading the rest of the area up to the bridge with stakes in place to pour the curbs first.

From John to the bridge is being graded with stakes in place to pour the curbs.

John to Hillcrest needs forming for the base to be pour. John to Agnes been formed for the concrete base to be pour. By the end of next week, all the guideway base will be pour and waiting for track work from Burnhamthorpe to Agnes.

All 4 corners at Dundas are complete as well the bus bays. Just a matter of time before the detour is remove to allow the missing sections of the guideway to be built from Agnes to King. Will have a look this weekend for the south end.

Amico is doing the guideway work now, but not sure what the small crew of BOT is doing by the plaza.

CPKC has a monitoring crew at the bridge now based on the amount of work going on there as well dealing with the building of the guideway under the bridge when it happens.

Long review.

Had to pickup up a car that I need for the next 2 weeks and went to garb the 2S at Elm today. The 2 must be or was dealing with backup traffic as the app said the 2 was due in 9 minute and the 103 in 7. Two minutes later, 3 2S show up playing follow the leader and leap frogging each other with normal ridership on all 3 buses. No idea which bus is what that could be over 20 minutes behind schedule. The 103 was pulling up at Dundas as I got off. The app is mainly useless as it only giving schedule time, not real time like it supposed to and plan for in 2023. Seen a few real time info clocks in some shelters and work in process as the arrival time is off by 2-4 minutes to the point the bus is at the stop and clock saying 2-4 away yet. Mississauga doing the cheap and reinventing things like TTC when there are already proven real time info systems on the market.

The southbound lane beside the guideway close as they were removing the asphalt for the gap and compacting that area, First time I have seen this, but could have miss other locations when it was being done.

The last section of the northbound guideway curb was being poured with both sides of the CP bridge poured. Backfilling of the gap for Cooksville Station taking place.

Some more formwork pouring was taking place on the South side of John St for the centre barrier. The last section of the guideway base was being pour at Agnese.

After picking up the car, I took a drive to PC south of Dundas and not surprised to see what I saw as I was expecting it to happen this past month.

King St intersection being survey and one of many locations I saw this taking place. Pile of duct banks at King St do be use for the Guideway between Dundas and King.

Bot small crew working on the retaining between Floradale and Paisley now all the duct bank under the sidewalk is in place.

Guideway dug with poured curds between Paisley and the Fire Station

Guideway being dug from the Queensway to Sherobee. Full and partly dug Guideway between Sherobee and north of the North Service Rd with northbound curb poured. Cannot dig the southbound guideway partly north of the Service Rd do to lack of road space until hydro relocates the existing poles.

Something taking place at the southwest corner of the North Service Rd, but barrier blocking the view.

South Service Rd Sub station installed and must happened this month as it wasn't there in February.

Grading for the guideway from the push box to Englewood underway.

Other than that, noting new south of Dundas since 2024.

Forming underway for the curb and base for the guideway ramp from Square One Dr to the elevation section.

Noticed cable brackets on the west south hydro tower where the fire was yesterday and had no chance to see if other towers have these brackets.

Other than surveyors between Hwy 403 and 407, no changes since last year.

Crew working on the 407 bridge with rebar in place for barriers.

Looks like BOT doing the northbound curb lanes as their trucks where there with most of the area looks like it been graded up to Ray Lawson. South of Ray Lawson, stakes in place for curb pouring. Crew working on the southeast corner and too far away to see what taking place.

Crew installing weeping tile by the courthouse.

Crew cleaning up Topflight and no sign of overhead work has started.

The next month or two, we should be seeing trackwork underway for areas still waiting track north of Kingsbridge as well being pour into position. Same goes for all the stations that have most the support post up to get all the shelters complete as well finishing the last 10% of the Derry shelter.

I would be very surprised to see any testing of the new fleet until later summer or fall at this time. The big push is south of the QEW and that is based on hydro removing poles and installing new ones, let along string wires south of Dundas. Late 2026 to early 2027 is still the timeframe when this line will see service subject to the loop and moving the Steeles Station to the northside.

Since I had to use the 403 today, used the westbound 403 on ramp off Hurontario and pull into the hydro corridor to get some shot just before the rain started. Grass fire was in two locations with the main one by the south tower. The smoke most likely forced the workers on the ramp to leave the area. Hydro One is string new lines for the south towers and they all have brackets on then for the new lines being installed.

Other than stripping the base form for the first base support, doesn't look much has happen since March 15 visit.

Great photos.

I noticed plenty of people working in and around the 407/Hurontario corridor the last few days I passed by. Seems they're working on inspecting the formwork and checking the integrity of the girders after the weather we've had. There were a few mobile cranes, but I haven't seen any cement trucks as of yet. I'll swing by when I'm off on a Sunday and take a glance in the area when I get a chance.
