July 18
I really botched my posting for Burnhamthorpe closure for not reading it right as well jumping to the wrong conclusion, but not reading the notice right.

Thanks to Rogers, had no internet since last night and they couldn't give be a timeframe today when it would be back on. This allow me to kill some bird this afternoon since I couldn't do any online work by having my eyes check with new reading glasses being order as well a look at a few areas of the line. There was a notice in the mailbox for this weekend closures of various intersections starting at 10pm Friday until 7am on Monday,

The notice is saying there will be only a single lane on Hurontario with no turning off Hurontario in any direction for Absolute and Matthew Gates to deal with work at Burnhamthorpe. Really going to tick drivers off and hopes there will be signs up for this as I did not see anything in my walk. Hope there will be police offices on duty at these intersection as a lot of drivers will try to make those left turns as well U-turn causing a backup of traffic or there are barriers there to stop them.

What I did noticed today and expecting it, northbound cars making a U-turn at Absolute considering there is no left turn lane there for northbound traffic in the first place. There is a sign for northbound truckers cannot make a right turn.

Haft of Burnhamthorpe is dug up with a drilling rig having issues north of the intersection and that is all for the intersection. Nothing has change from Burnhamthorpe to Sq One Dr other that the station platform is ready for forming and pouring the base for it. the 2nd place for Sq One intersection was having ductwork install.

It very hard to get a close look at what is taking place on the elevated section other seeing a lot of white on the side with 2 rows of rebar. Need the drone folks to get a close look at what is taking place so we have an idea what is happening.

No change for the north end where the 403 ramp is to connect to Hurontario. The west form work for the pier is ready for rebar as slats have been added to the form to give a groove look to it

The work on rebuilding the Hurontario Northbound lanes over the 403 is about to wrap up with roadwork still to take place for the Sherwood turning lane.

Someone just received a letter in the mail dated July of 2024 stating that track and OCS pole installation would be happening between Eglinton and the 407. The map indicates that it is stopping just short of the 407 which is entirely understandable, but at least we know that they're starting to make their way down here now.

Unfortunately the images are too large for the server to process, so you'll have to check out the subreddit link above.

That's a joke as of today, tracks are mostly in place from Topflight to Kingsbridge with a few spots still waiting track. Even though track is there, not all of them are pour in place. This includes the track to the OMSF and the OS support except at 2 intersections.

From Topflight to Matheson, all OS poles are up with a few missing.

Unless they have the 407 overpass fully rebuilt by Q1 2025, nothing will be fully in place by the 2025 date north of Topflight

the last time I was up north of the Eglinton was on June 24 and expect some changes have taken place since then.

What is not noted in the notice unless its on the back is the string of the OS as well when testing of the line is to take place as well testing the new fleet.

Anyone who drives this route or ride the bus will see what I have stated.

The section from Hillcrest to the 403 can be done this year and it will require southbound traffic to use a single lane at the 403 area while they build the guideway across it in 2 phases to get to the ramp for the line to go over the 403. It will not have an impact on the 403 off ramp traffic.

To backup my comments from yesterday, took a bus ride north to the 407 and shoot some videos of the corridor.

Wasn't around on Saturday to see what was happening regarding the no turns at various interactions planed for this weekend, but saw nothing today for it. Walking home from Sq One, saw a lot of markings in the curb lane, on the curb and various areas for the sidewalk and the lawn. It was for all utilities underground.

Ended up taking the wrong camera with me to shoot the video that would shoot videos other than photos. A lot more track in places as well being poured to the point I will say all the trackwork will be fully in place from Eglinton to Topflight by October at the rate they have been going at. No more OS poles have been installed as well no OS from the OMFS with 2 intersections still need poles and bracing.

407
Had a look at the 407 bridge and a fair bit of work has been done all ready for demo. All sidewalks, curbs and the ends of the bridge have been removed. Part of the north section of the road deck has been removed. The 2 new piers as still not fully built.

Looking at how the northbound lanes are shifted, the guideway from Topflight and just short or the eastbound off ramp. This means it will only take a month to build the guideway for the ramp and where traffic shift. Since the northbound lanes north of the 407 westbound ramp are not built, the guideway cannot be built to allow traffic to shift like the south end. If the north guideway was built like the south, you are only be talking a month of work for ramp guideway.

Topflight
Looking at Topflight intersection for the T connection, Burnhamthorpe can see part of the T built for the current timeframe, but at some future date the rest of the T Connection has to be built across Hurontario for the southbound lanes with only one lane open at a time

Small areas for the intersection and the crossover area needs concrete pour, but all tracks 100% in place including the switches. The crossover area is something I have yet to come upon in all my travel as it has exposed tracks in most places with a short section of top coat follow by large stones for the track beside the switching track that is open track as well the space between the tracks. No idea what is plan for the open section between the 2 tracks on both side of the crossover.

Will try to another video in the next few weeks

be a day or so before photo are up, but here a couple shots of the crossover.

New rebuilt southbound 407 overpass lanes with northbound lanes on it

You could get away with only a few feet past the main southbound track at Burnhamthorpe without interfering with traffic as phase 1 of the full T connection until the loop EA is in place

Piers support are in place and I was wrong in my posting with rebar in place for the ends of the new girders

New notices for this weekend closure like last week one in the mailbox today

July 24
All photos up on my site

Central Pkwy station base is form and waiting concrete.

The foundation base for the ESSO substation is waiting for concrete to be pour for it. Crew digging and installing ducting from the substation to the guideway.

80% of the retaining wall is form with backfilling taking place. Both bus stops for the pathways have been removed between Fairview and John St. Fence was open at the bridge, but not at John St, but will be on the 25 as they were setting up the fences for it.

The sidewalk on the west side is seeing 48 duct banks place under it.

Saw more white hats today than anytime since day one with one being unsure what was being plan for building new sidewalk, road curb and the northbound road at Hillcrest. He had to go and get his laptop to see what was to be done there. Great chunk of the northbound lane asphalt has been removed as well the curb from Hillcrest to Dundas. All the work has been done on the westside.

Northbound lane and sidewalk close from Dundas to the Queensway to build the northbound lane, curb and sidewalk. Its possible by Sept to Nov that the northbound lane will be open from Dundas to the Queensway to allow the excavation of the guideway and possibility of an intersection or 2 been close to build the guideway across it.

They still have to build the southbound lane from Dundas to Hillcrest or John St to allow the guideway to be excavated

This weekend closure is seeing southbound traffic using one of the northbound lane from Elm Dr to Absolute Dr as they are digging up and backfilling the southbound lane for the turning lane one one though lane at Burnhamthorpe Rd. That is saying the T connect will be built after all. Those lanes will see asphalt until they need to shift the southbound traffic to the curb lane to allow one lane of traffic south of Absolute to south of Burnhamthorpe when it comes time to part of Burnhamthorpe trackwork.

Traffic was light.

As expected, no left turn a Matthew Gates means nothing to those who made the turn as well do a U-turns
