Oakville Gemini Condos (Oakville) | ?m | 10s | Castleridge

Neilas' website now says that OpArt will be "stylish rental apartments", and that construction starts in the Fall of 2015. It seems it did. Good to have these going forward finally. Despite the suburban surface parking, here's hoping they actually look like the rendering.

The facades are interesting with the pattern of irregular geometric cladding panels. Since we no longer build true glass boxes, it's important to develop new styles of cladding that don't amount to merely trading glass for ugly spandrel panels. Many towers covered with spandrel panels aren't attractive buildings at all.

Anyone know whats up with this project as it's a hole in the ground the last year and no PCL construction signs on site as of late Nov.

It's a good question. I live down the road and the site has been inactive for most of the year.

Was looking forward to this one. Hopefully it is still a go.

There's been a change in builder which I assume is the cause of the hold up.

TMG are taking over.

Town of Oakville closed Shepherd road this week to do an engineering review of the shoring at this pit. Traffic and bus route is diverting around it. Expected to last until March 2020.

Sounds like after 5(?) years of being there, it may not be structurally sound.

If you've been wondering what happened to this project, check out this story in a post about one of Neilas' other projects.

TL/dr: Site for sale for $1, which we hope is completed before the shoring collapses.
