What's a normal pedestrian? My friend who sneered at it saying it looks like a crushed tin can, or the one that was wowed by it?Im curious what a normal pedestrian think of the facade when they cross the street? not a traditional Toronto grey facade so they probably notice that.
Type of ass to say "my kId cOuLd dO tHaT" when he sees any abstract paintingMy friend who sneered at it saying it looks like a crushed tin can
Yup! I'm all too familiar with that kind of comment. Or the general tenor of it, at least. Though most people have at least a shred of civility and hold their tongue, their body language tends to signal their skepticism and cynicism.Type of ass to say "my kId cOuLd dO tHaT" when he sees any abstract painting

The Forma bashers are interesting. “The One will be a more standout tower than F Gehry’s design”!? You jest. By no means. Not in the least. On no account. Maybe wait until the tower is a quarter built at least. You don’t appreciate beautiful, shiny, crumpled, child-like chaos designed by the iconic hometown kid? For shame. As long as this beautiful behemoth doesn’t leak, then I’m good. Best news yet, second tower incoming w upgraded surrounding streetscapes.
That's exactly what I thought. I hope they did model it, or cars parked on surrounding streets would melt on sunny days.I'll set aside the aesthetic discussions du jour to ask a semi-serious question; do you think they modeled the impacts of the reflectivity?
I'm just looking at how reflective this seems to be in low winter light conditions........and I can't help it......Walkie-Scorchie popped into my head. (google that or 20 Fenchurch if you don't know)
that's one way to get rid of street parking. Gehry coming through even bigger than we thoughtThat's exactly what I thought. I hope they did model it, or cars parked on surrounding streets would melt on sunny days.

I mention before the issue with the .Walkie-Scorchie is not with its reflectiveness but with its shape...as its concave shape bent sunlight reflected into a more concentrated area. I don't think this will have quite the same issue here as the light will be more reflected away. That's exactly what I thought. This song should be their soundtrack:I mention before the issue with the .Walkie-Scorchie is not with its reflectiveness but with its shape...as its concave shape bent sunlight reflected into a more concentrated area. ...what I can see happening is at certain points of a bright sunny day this tower would be hard to look at without searing the backs of retinas. Hope that's never the case though.
Edit: And what @A Torontonian Now said above me.
