Toronto Eighty One Wellesley | 97.53m | 28s | Aragon Properties | Core Architects

I've RSVP'd (I hope I got the email address correct, it's really hard to read) so I'll report back on whatever I learn. Thanks for posting that urbansuburban.

Google reveals nothing, I tried last night. I am clear for tomorrow night so we'll know more then, I'll take notes and report here.

Apparently a 29 storey condo is being proposed. Design by CORE Architects. See below link:

Surprisingly, there is

Xtra! reports on the 81 Wellesley E. proposal. The story also notes that that horrific 501 Yonge project has hit a snag (last paragraph.. woo-hoo!) - http://www.xtra.ca/public/Toronto/Anger_over_81_Wellesley_condo_plan-12693.aspx

what a funny article. i especially liked the ridiculous comment by paul fairly (whoever that is).

this project will be approved in some high-rise point tower form. beats a six story box that fully covers the entire site. possibly a lower podium, say 2-3 storeys, and 20 storeys total is my prediction of where this ends up.

That's about what I was hoping for in the end. Btw, it's an empty site right now since Odette House & the couch house were unceremoniously demolished last winter.

"opposition from community members and city councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam may yet derail their plan."

"Councillor Wong-Tam says she “will not be supporting†the proposal and she does not believe the site is appropriate for a tall building."

When I first saw the renderings for this proposal I thought - other than tenants in adjacent buildings - who could possibly object to such a masterful design that fits in so perfectly with its surroundings. To see Wong-Tam come out and condemn the proposal outright is further proof of how clue-less she is.

She says a "tall building" is "inappropriate". What would she prefer a vacant lot?
