Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

You'd be surprised the amount of people I see who speak English, see the 905 goes to Kennedy and still ask the driver if it does, people in this city are confusing...
Bus stops don't show direction and sometimes the wrong signs are put up, especially if there was a detour near the terminal. The operator might have forget to change it but it's mostly automatic now.

However the LRT platforms clearly show directions like the subway does. Which gives people more insurance they are on the right trains.

This has been going on for many months now.

The cars are sitting out in all kinds of weather, rusting away over time with little to no maintenance.

With no regular usage, it won’t be long til they need ‘replacing’ or ‘outdated’. MOO
I'm pretty sure they are just solving the teething issues now. These issues don't show up when they do their burnin but a few thousand km into running "in service". Faulty installation and bad workmanship usually cause these issues which is usually an one time fix.

Date in url indicates this was posted today.

Comments were made (this morning) at the presser for the August 31st service changes at Bathurst Stn.

While its possible the TTC would change scheduled mid-board, that seems unlikely.

That would seem to suggest that October Board period is when they are targeting.

That begins October 12th.

They’re running what certainly looks like revenue service levels today. Trains every 3ish minutes
Probably every 6 to 9 minutes running in packs. :)

Seriously though, someone should pull out a stop watch and time some of these to get a decent average. I'm surprised they are planning to run that high in the next few years! That's a huge capacity.

Though perhaps it's not the revenue service simulation yet? I'd think they'd be wanting to do some tests at much lower frequencies to see what it takes to break it.

We do not have an opening date...

I try to check the times on the station signs when I drive by and I’ve seen everything from 3 minutes to 10+ minute frequencies in the last month, whatever that’s worth.

Is it true they would open on October 12th or November 16th based on current testing progress?

Nobody can say for sure.
Based on what MX CEO has said, he expects revenue service demonstration to go well and finish at the end of september where they would then declare substantial completion of the project.
As I previously found, the contract says the maximum bedding period after that point is 3 months.
There is still a good chance they will open it by the end of the year.

Don’t make any assumptions. Any opening this year might not happen if they discover new flaws. They have plenty of excuses to give. You’ll never know till it starts carrying passengers.

Based on the current odds at Fanduel, smart money says it will be November 1 or later. If you still believe it will be earlier, you can place a bet on your belief.

I'm guessing January, similar to what happened here in Ottawa for Line 2. Final bits after the passing test went well into November, and then they didn't want to start things in December as too many staff were off for the holidays

They probably won't do the very tepid gradual launch thing they did here though, and there isn't the federal government involved which slowed the paperwork stuff, so maybe November could work

My boss at work used to say he wanted things done "yesterday". I don't think TTC bosses are familiar with that expression.

If your boss was Metrolinx, you could get things done 5 years late and you'd be rewarded with a nice big fat bonus and a significant pay raise.

Imagine that kind of incentive; to do absolutely nothing and get handsomely rewarded.
