Toronto Eglinton Line 5 + GO: Caledonia Station | 11.72m | 2s | Metrolinx | McCallum Sather

Exciting stuff. Looks like a crossing is going in on the eastern side of the GO station (Croham Rd. and Eglinton). From what I remember, the latest eglintonTOday plans still had this as a potential add on.

TORONTO — The Ontario government has started construction on the Caledonia GO Station in Toronto. The new station will connect the Barrie Line to TTC bus service and the future Line 5 Eglinton, and is part of the province’s plan to protect Ontario by making record investments in infrastructure that will help keep workers on the job and drive economic growth.

“Our government is making historic investments in public transit to reduce gridlock and connect more people to housing and jobs, as we work to build the strongest economy in the G7,” said Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation. “Caledonia GO Station will connect thousands of riders to fast, reliable transit, getting them where they need to go quickly and safely, while fuelling our economy for years to come.”

Located on Eglinton Avenue just west of Caledonia Road, the station will feature heated platform shelters, bicycle racks and a pedestrian tunnel connecting the north end of the platform to Bowie Avenue and the York Beltline Trail.

“The new Caledonia GO Station will help more Torontonians get around our city and reduce traffic on our roads,” said Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto. “Building more public transit infrastructure that is convenient, affordable and safe builds up our local economy and fosters better connections with surrounding cities. Together, the City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario are making it easier to choose transit.”

Caledonia GO Station is part of the GO Expansion program to deliver two-way, all-day service on GO Transit’s busiest rail routes. Ontario has invested more than $13 billion to build and upgrade GO Transit stations and add more track, generating the equivalent of 8,300 jobs annually.

Building train stations (and tracks) isnt really a priority for Metrolinx as we've all seen them demonstrate, it's almost comes 2nd to parking spaces at this point.

If this were a parking garage (a la Bloomington GO station), they would've spared no expense or time to build this to the highest standards, as quickly as possible.

They are an embarrassment of an organization.

They would need to build parking lots that transport people to destinations and Bob is their uncle… /s
