You cannot put this underground in this area as its a floodplain and you would have to go very deep to get under the river that is there. Extra protection to the tunnel would be require. The idea was looked at and it required a floodgate at the east end to protect the system to the east. Even if the line ran on the surface, a floodgate was required.Honestly if simcoe street in Oshawa can get an underground lrt in order to preserve those heritage houses than surely in Toronto which lacks parks we should be going underground here.
Brussels Metro is only an LRT that runs both on the surface as well underground.
