The Panel is composed of people with very strong opinions about architecture (as you might expect), and every project, no matter how impressive, has Panel members who cannot agree to approving that project. Driven by that emotional stance, they can always find something to object to about it, and they do.
The panel is driven by leading practicioners of architecture, not just "people with very strong opinions about architecture." Perhaps they know more than you on such matters.
Okay, and perhaps they don't....often these types of panels need to justify their existence by always finding something wrong with whatever project.
