The station entrance is finally hitting grade and is at the east end of the site. A lot of back filling require for the slopping area to the west.

News regarding the future Caledonia GO station:

Metrolinx to select team to design, build new Caledonia GO Station

The development of the new Caledonia GO Station in west Toronto’s York area is progressing as the Province works to select the team who will design and build the project.

This week, a request for proposals, which outlines the project’s scope of work, was issued to three pre-qualified teams: Ellis Don, Grascan and Kenaidan.

The winning bidder will be awarded a contract next spring.

The new station, which will be located on Eglinton Avenue West between Blackthorn Avenue and Croham Road, and will directly connect the Barrie GO rail line with the future Crosstown LRT, is expected to be completed by the spring of 2023.

So, people will have to go up to the surface from GO, before crossing the bridge, then going down, WAAAAY down to get to the quite deep Crosstown here?

Along with the huge mess they are making at Finch West, walking-wise between the lines, and the fact that there's still no construction for a link between Bloor GO and Dundas West subway station, why are we so terrible at transfer stations in this city? It's mind-boggling.

But but but, East Harbour!! A whole new transit line has been proposed just to make this transfer between parallel lines seamless! Unfortunately, this new transit line will make passengers go between an elevated platform to an underground platform at a more utilized transfer point at Science Centre Station.

They are sealing the sloping roof and back filling the lower level. Concrete was being pour at the west end and steel up at the east end. Not an easy site to get shots from day one.

Cookie cutter building found at other stations so far with some minor changes.

2 trucks with more counter weight off loaded while shooting the area.....A family of 4 nearly ran over as a flat deck was backing in to the site by failing to obey personnel and try running behind the truck. It would have been their own fault if hit by the truck and I yell at them to stop.

I'm curious what is happening with the GO station. During the TPAP they mentioned a prerequisite was some kind of Eglinton West bridge replacement that they imagined the city would do and that the Barrie corridor expansion project would grade the tracks, double track in the area, etc.. I see no sign of the city doing anything on the bridge, and no sign of corridor work in this area. With Metrolinx indicating that a contract is about to be signed I can't even find a document for the final scope of the contract they are tendering. Does anyone know what is going to tender? Is it 2 tracks or three, is it one platform or two, and does it included the Eglinton bridge replacement?
 

The company building the Eglinton Crosstown LRT has shut down construction on one of its stations after four workers at the site tested positive for COVID-19.

Crosslinx, the consortium building the $5.3-billion transit project, said it temporarily stopped work on Caledonia station Thursday because 30 workers had been directed to self-isolate or get tested as a result of the four positive cases, which were reported between Monday and Wednesday by subcontractors on the project. One of the four infected workers is believed to have contracted the virus on the job.

Crosslinx said none of its 23 other construction sites on the 19-kilometre line have been shuttered, and, barring additional positive tests the company plans to resume work on the underground Caledonia stop, located between Keele Street and Caledonia Road, on Monday.

Crosslinx spokesperson Kristin Jenkins said despite the company “diligently implementing COVID-19 protocols,” it was “unfortunately inevitable” that the virus would find its way onto its construction sites, as the second wave of the pandemic continues to spread throughout the city.

She said Crosslinx “has implemented all required municipal, provincial and federal COVID-19 health-and-safety measures,” including adjusting work practices to allow employees to keep a distance, one from another. According to Jenkins, the company exceeds health guidelines by requiring masks to be worn at all times, and has been actively reporting positive cases to Toronto Public Health. For the past two weeks, it has also been ticketing workers who don’t follow COVID-19 protocols, Crosslinx said.

On Jan. 6, the Star reported that 28 workers and subcontractors on the Crosstown had tested positive in the previous two weeks, causing the suspension of some work on the line. No construction sites were shut down at the time.

The massive midtown LRT project is already behind schedule, and is expected to open sometime next year at the earliest, instead of this September, as previously planned. The delays predate the pandemic, but Crosslinx and the Province disagree over the extent to which the virus has exacerbated the problem.

Anne Marike Aikins, a spokesperson for Metrolinx, the provincial transit agency overseeing the LRT, didn’t directly answer when asked whether the organization is concerned the latest outbreak could slow construction further.

“Metrolinx has had a comprehensive plan throughout the pandemic to ensure both our own staff and customer safety and limit the transmission of the virus. Our expectations extend to all of our contractors and constructors,” she said.
