Toronto CN Tower: Entry Pavilion, Plaza, Renos | ?m | ?s | CLC | Arcadis

The CN Tower is making some changes this year, although they're being cagey currently about what's coming. They'll only tell us for the time being that "upgrades to our observation level that will provide improved accessibility and an exciting new perspective on the view – coming June 2017", so if anyone's up there in the meantime, we'd love some photos of what's going on!

I guess the re-clad died an uneventful death, then?

The April Fools story from 2014, if that's what you're referring to, did result in the concrete being painted around the base of the tower!

Well, there's always Fabrik for that.

I'm going to guess a glass staircase tacked on somewhere up high, or just a glass cube sticking out from the observation pod, or a glass slide. These seem to be the most popular additions to observation decks these days.

Upgrade windows on Lookout Observation level to floor to ceiling - CN TOWER 3RD FLOOR

So looks like it's gonna be floor to ceiling glass instead of what's currently there

Yeah... the public would never let the CN tower be demolished. It's iconic not only of Toronto, but also somewhat of Canada too.

The CN Tower is designated a heritage structure as well. It is also on the list of many travel guides' modern world wonders.

However, world wonders are not immune to vandalism or intentional planned demolition. Of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, only one survives to this day; it happens to be the oldest of the seven as well.

Replacing windows and cladding. Looks like it will be losing some of the white banding.

If it looks anything like this when it's done, it'll look gap-toothed. Thanks Building department. (As best as I know, this is the kind of thing that isn't required to go to Planning. They've gotta fix that loophole for re-skinning of buildings.) Making inquiries.

Yeah holy crap. Didn't it have to go through heritage considerations since it is designated?
