Toronto CN Tower: Entry Pavilion, Plaza, Renos | ?m | ?s | CLC | Arcadis

A somewhat odd decision that they decided to model the security lineups on those at La Guardia.

Barf.

That is a horrible way to enter the CN Tower! That would just ruin the experience for me. Whoever's idea this was, should be fired. That's just dreadful!

What an ominous, uninviting, and intimidating entryway to what is, and has been, a great attraction and engineering marvel for 40 years. It's supposed to be fun to visit the CN Tower. Who the hell wants to feel like they're stuck in a security line-up at the airport? Who is responsible for this abomination?

I'm at a loss. The unfinished concrete floor, the harsh lighting, corrugated metal ceiling (why not skylights so you can look up at the tower while waiting?), and the total lack of any colour make this look like the most depressing place on Earth. No thought whatsoever was put into this literal shed, I understand security is necessary but this has to be the worst solution possible.

Utter dreck. Nothing beat that "entering the future" feel that the original layout had when it opened.

Wow! I've never seen those photos before, that's pretty cool. The statue looks like a goofy kaiju from a Godzilla flick or something, but the atrium is slick!

HA! This fiasco does not surprise me in the least. I worked at the CN Tower for a few years and upper management is a bunch of incompetent goofs. From an operations perspective, the place was a complete disaster (although building maintenance/engineering is top notch) - wonder how long it'll take for this abomination to be removed.

This is so horrible and embarrassing for the city, that I feel like I just have to make a video criticizing it and make sure the CN Tower management see it. It's shit like this, that really pisses me off!

This is exactly the type of city building Denzil Minnan-Wong dreams of. Cheap, utilitarian, no sense of style.

The statue, which is named Universal Man, has since been relocated to Yorkdale: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Man

However, it was slightly damaged en route and repaired by North York.
