While the mechanical boxes at U Condos are quite respectable, I really think the towers could have benefited if they had something as expressive as this (especially because they have blades of grass running up the length of the towers).

Looks good but I still think the same "hat" as the original CASA would have been the best option here.

Chaz seems clunkier than Casa, and the latter has the better podium by far. Otherwise tallest > shortest.

Form does matter. It shouldn't count for enough to place Chaz over Casa. Sorry. I just find that reasoning behind a lot of the garbage, inspired architecture.

Today. Not much progress on the west side of the mechanical penthouse.

This is a great mechanical penthouse. The best in the city during the last 5 years? I think so. Discuss among yourselves.

From an architectural perspective, I prefer that the expression of the original CASA's penthouse is structural - here, it feels like a motif that is "tacked-on" and is not integral to the building's architecture. That said, visually, the effect is positive.

I like it a lot and am mostly just hoping at this point it won't be illuminated by anything other than standard white lighting, if at all.

There is a preponderance of stupid, lazy, neon lighting shining on or near mechanicals in the city (staring you down, Cityplace), and that'd ruin a perfectly nice architectural flourish here IMO.
