Great things to hear, thanks dventura!

It's great that the worker is so optimistic, but judging by how long other buildings have taken once they've topped out, I doubt anyone will be moving in before September.

How do we get in to see the suites that are ready for viewing?
 
They need elevators hooked up before they'd get an occupancy permit, and they can't have the elevators in until the building is topped out, so I imagine it'll be later than June.
 
I wouldn't say the worker was all that optimistic...he was just stating the fact that the builder had stated a target for June and added as was just mentioned that its all depending that's its topped out and there's no more scafolding. I also personally feel that it will probably be late august for the first units but I guess will see. I do believe that we are only a month away from topping out but then add 3 weeks for them to finish the hat and pull the crane...I'm guessing the crane goes out end of June. As far as going in to see the demos the guy wasn't sure who you go to but that the acess is from the back and that they'd let you in with permission and a hard hat and shoes.

Scratch the optimism comment, I was being sarcastic. June is just not going to happen and now your changing what you wrote.

I haven't changed anything I wrote...I never said that anyone would be occupying in June or that the construction worker said that. All I said was that, according to him, June was the date the builder had given out to construction workers as the targer occupancy for the 6th floor units.
 
I am not sure what the correct term is, but it is likely that the elevators service a defined set of floors. The elevators that service only the lower floors may be put into operation earlier, as the elevator shaft does not extend to the roof of the building.

That's the best thing to always do ... just talk to a worker on site. Any of the tradesmen know what dates they have to meet ... but the guy in charge of the electrical contract is one of the few main guys who are accountable (along with mechanical, drywall, plumbing, etc) so it's pretty safe to say that if at this point they've got to meet June occupancy, it will happen ... though could be the last week of June, and could just be one floor to start. Based on this new info I predict 10th-floor occupancy to be right on schedule for early August.

WOW, that's got to be a first for Cresford ... an ontime occupancy ???

they MUST have given at least 1 delay notice, but then again, perhaps there was too much at stake with Armani associated with it?
Are they (Armani) supposed to have a flagship store in the podium; or was it just the condo was to be furnished with Armani Casa products?

In general, for any residential construction building in Toronto at least, for people who don't know: If you can get a hold of a hard hat and steel toe boots, you can walk around the site freely during construction hours and nobody will hassle you. Better to perhaps walk at a brisk pace because if you mill around slowly you will stand out.

Lots of non-construction workers are on construction sites all the time ... like management, office personnel, delivery-people, engineers, etc. Just because workers don't recognize you doesn't mean they won't just assume you are on the site for some reason not related to their own precise trade.

What floor is the elevator mechanical room for the lower floors?

When I bought (Spring of 2007) they had a "listed" occupancy of fall 2008 (which everybody aknowledged was not going to happen...they were saying maybe by spring of 09 more realistic). As far as I know that was the original occupancy all along so more like 12 months late...unless I'm wrong about that.

I think you are mistaken. This is the first I've ever heard of this. I'm 99.9% sure all 4 elevators go up all the way up.

Of course they all go from top to bottom. What was your source for this latest piece of drivel Toronto-West?

Further, to those who still believe that Casa will be ready sometime in June, skip on over to their website and check out what it says about the projected move-in date.

Finally, wandering around an active construction site, especially one at this stage of development, is just not a smart thing to do without an escort. You could get hurt, or killed.

Could some level of sanity please return to this thread?
