This may just have been idle chatter, but I heard that they wanted to give the grass, etc., a year "to take" before they let people on it. That seems a bit extreme to me… but maybe.

I suspected that might be the case, so interesting that you heard some chatter to that effect. Still doesn't explain why they couldn't have opened key pathways through the area, though.

Bridgepoint features in the film "Room" currently in cinemas. It won the audience awards at TIFF this year, BTW, and is touted for Oscar noms. Not for the building mind you…

It is also frequently featured in Orphan Black as the Dyad Institute (where they do top secret stuff like cloning).

Sorry if this was mentioned earlier. It appears in nearly every episode atleast briefly.

All construction fencing has been removed from the public spaces.

Nothing like some puffy clouds on a sunny afternoon to enhance a nice-looking facility.

The public art is amazing! Easily the best I've seen in recent memory.
It's well done, but it seems kinda creepy to me, like the Body Worlds exhibit that came to the Ontario Science Centre. When I'm at a hospital, I'd prefer not to be reminded of all the bits that I'm composed of.

The views from the roof of Bridgepoint are incredible. I'm surprised more photos from up there haven't been posted.

Is the roof publicly accessible?
Yes. Well, maybe it's not intended to be, but one can easily get up there without any trouble. I had a family member who was a patient at Bridgepoint and I would sometimes go up there. Basically anyone can walk into the hospital and take the elevators wherever they want without being questioned by security. One just needs to know how to get to the roof. It's worth the visit, just for that.

Here's an idea of what you can expect:

Great views are also available at ground level:
