It’s going to be unbelievably embarrassing to show BMO to the rest of the world.![]()
Oh no - the 5 times it will be shown that will be forgotten about 3 weeks after the tournament ends.

Agreed that the Super Bowl is usually played in warm weather cities, but most new stadiums are built with the ability to host. Toronto would be one of the largest markets in the NFL, so a suitably large stadium makes sense.
Very simple reason for that, Chicago does not have a dome. Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis and NJ have all hosted Super Bowls, some of them twice. Other than NJ, they all have domes. I would assume if we build an NFL stadium here, it will be domed. If Chicago the once second largest city in the USA has never hosted a super bowl. I have doubts Toronto ever has a chance at hosting one.
In fact I'm willing to be that mexico city or London hosts a super bowl before Toronto does
^There will never be an NFL anything in Toronto again
After the initial post comparing BMO Field to Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, I could tell this thread was going to devolve into a discussion about whether Toronto is suitable as an NFL market. I noticed something similar in the thread for the new Rogers Stadium concert venue at Downsview Park, even though it is a concert-specific venue.Wow there's some wacky posting going on here.......that seems to have remarkably little to do with the thread..
Some weird obsession w/the NFL and the Super Bore appears to have cropped up, even though it's entirely off topic.
The NFL has nothing to offer Toronto, and based on the level of fan interest for the Bills here.....(in terms of tickets sold) I would say Toronto has little to offer back.
Plenty of Torontonians would watch, (though I would not be among them), if the tickets prices were more in line with Buffalo's in Buffalo.
But at the price required here to offset a stadium and expansion/transfer fee......I don't think so.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming..........anyone have updates on the stadium? LOL
I felt like this conversation, along with the previous one in the Rogers Stadium thread, would be best suited for a separate thread (possibly in the General Discussions section), even though I personally believe you are underestimating the league's popularity in the region.
They have been floating the idea of an elevated walkway from the stations, across the empty area of Exhibition Place, to Ontario Place more than a few times. It just never goes through. Maybe it is a budget issues, but I think there are worries that the events that they host yearly will not renew contracts if they start building stuff. CNE is pretty vocal about it to my understanding. They feel that they are getting less space every year.At least Exhibition GO Station construction will be complete, hopefully. That tunnel under the tracks was a death trap.
There's a number of stadiums in England alone that are piecemeal like BMO, where the stands are built individually and improved individually. It's not unusual to have stadiums in Europe built in stages/segments as BMO was.
I could be mistaken but I think Fullham's Craven Cottage stadium was built similar to BMO field. In stages with separate not wrap around stands.
It’s definitely on brand....it looks very Toronto though.
The Jays have just (and still are) spending millions to make the Skydome a better venue for baseball. They aren't going to undo that considering it was never a good football stadium in the first place.Wouldn’t it be cheaper to convert skydome back to a football stadium and then build the jays a smaller venue.
