Real turf is being installed before the World Cup.BC Place has artificial turf. Any stadium needs to have the ability to have real turf . That could be a movable pitch like some stadiums do in Europe

If, and it's a big if, Toronto gets awarded an NFL team, they will need to build an entirely new stadium, likely a dome that seats at minimum 70,000 in order to qualify to host a Super Bowl. I like the idea of Exhibition Place as s site (enough area to tailgate and good transit connections), or Downsview where we are currently getting a "Test Case Stadium". There is now way BMO field can be renovated into a first rate NFL stadium. They might not for Toronto FC alone, but something along the lines of the new White Heart Lane (ie. Tottenham stadium) which converts from Football to American Football might be something they’d invest in for a future NFL expansion.
I actually see this happening in the future….a possible MLSE/CFL bid to get a Toronto Argonauts (NFL) team. It’s the only way this works, and everyone wins.
NFL and other pro sports teams are bought and sold by multi-billionaires. They're not "awarded" like an elementary school teacher giving out gold stars (or the Olympics if you want to use that example).... if, Toronto gets awarded an NFL team ...
BMO looks absolutely atrocious….the pitch is and crew are great, but the look of stadium looks like it was built by IKEA or something. The only stand that resembles anything like a proper football stadium in the East stand. The rest of the stands don’t even make sense.
Really wish they would just copy and paste Ajax’s stadium. What an intimate atmosphere this would be in Toronto.

There's no way Toronto hosts a Super bowl. The NFL prefers warm weather locations for the Super Bowl over Nothern locations. Yes there has been Super Bowls hosted in Northern locations relatively recently in open air stadiums (NY, Det) as well as domed (Minneapolis, Seattle) but I think those are special cases. If, and it's a big if, Toronto gets awarded an NFL team, they will need to build an entirely new stadium, likely a dome that seats at minimum 70,000 in order to qualify to host a Super Bowl. Wouldn’t it be cheaper to convert skydome back to a football stadium and then build the jays a smaller venue. If, and it's a big if, Toronto gets awarded an NFL team, they will need to build an entirely new stadium, likely a dome that seats at minimum 70,000 in order to qualify to host a Super Bowl. They most definitely are awarded, it's called expansion, puts millions in existing owner's pockets, and is the likely route to a Toronto NFL franchise.NFL and other pro sports teams are bought and sold by multi-billionaires. Agreed that the Super Bowl is usually played in warm weather cities, but most new stadiums are built with the ability to host. Toronto would be one of the largest markets in the NFL, so a suitably large stadium makes sense. There's no way Toronto hosts a Super bowl. Do you think Buffalo will be awarded a Super Bowl in their new stadium?
Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Green Bay, Kansas City, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Seattle, and Washington are all cold weather cities and have never hosted a super bowl
That ship has sailed. Skydome is multipurpose and although it would be technically possible, would be way better and likely more economical to build a purpose built football stadium.Wouldn’t it be cheaper to convert skydome back to a football stadium and then build the jays a smaller venue.
I am sure there would be government $ in the mix. If we can help ‘fund’ Doug’s new spa, I am sure we are all in for a facility for the common taxpayer! This would be a highly functional infrastructure project, with a high rate of utility.lol - MLSE -aren’t dropping $1.5bn for a comparable stadium like the Ajax arena
It’s going to be unbelievably embarrassing to show BMO to the rest of the world.BMO looks absolutely atrocious….the pitch is and crew are great, but the look of stadium looks like it was built by IKEA or something.
