So, BikeShareTO is very close to becoming profitable. For the first 8 months of the year it has a contribution margin of just $680,000. That is about 13 cents/trip. In 2024, it was 32 cents/trip.
With the World Cup next year, I hope they multiply that number by 10.And the Exhibiton GO Station on Atlantic has been more than doubled in size from 15 to 33 docks.
They already set up a superstation at Budweiser Stage for concerts. With the World Cup next year, I hope they multiply that number by 10.
Then keep that number there for TFC games.

It's good to see the priority for expansion along Eglinton but I really worry the City has screwed the pooch by delaying the installation of Eglinton TOday, what with Bill 212 and now Bill 60.A couple slides from tonight's meeting:

Expansion of the number of stations is great BUT they REALLY need to sort out the problem with docks either full or empty. A few years ago one could maybe not find a convenient station but when you did you could get a bike there or return a bike there.Lets see if I can enlarge the Bikeshare Future Stations a bit:

A couple of sections stand out for relative lack of proposed installations:
Next to nothing for Wexford and eastern portions of North York between Eglinton and 401.

Etobicoke mostly ignored:

Nothing new along Queensway in South Etobicoke either.....
Also almost nothing anywhere along Steeles.
Almost missed my megabus today because all the stations around Union were full. Thank god Lakeshore/Yonge had some docks.Expansion of the number of stations is great BUT they REALLY need to sort out the problem with docks either full or empty. Is there a regional integration strategy somewhere? For instance, what if you wanted to start on Toronto's bike share, and then switch to Mississauga's Lime bikes. Or for example, bike from the new Lakeview developments to Long Branch GO to get to work in the morning.
Not sure if Bike Share Toronto released the slides from that presentation - couldn't make it due to a last minute commitment - but they need to start adding bike share stations along Eglinton West in Etobicoke given the planned extension of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. This plan represents a shift in focus from the prior round of expansion which focused more on breadth instead of depth.Lets see if I can enlarge the Bikeshare Future Stations a bit:
