So many times I got "this bike doesn't exist" last weekend.

Hate when this happens! Or just some random error. Almost always fixed by using the card.

Good news about the new docks from this post on Instagram

We’re excited to unveil our new Pillar docks, an innovation in our docking system, designed keeping our riders in mind:
Clearer indicators on the new status display show when your bike is ready or docked.
Dock your bike smoothly without an extra force.
Just tap your key card on the dock’s NFC reader to unlock a bike.

You can continue to unlock the bike by scanning the QR code through the app. (And soon, you’ll be able to unlock the bike by tapping your phone too. This feature will be rolled out in the coming days. Stay tuned!)

The Pillar docks are now installed at:
• York St / Harbour St (Love Park)
• Widmer St / Adelaide St W
• Simcoe St / Wellington Street W

Amazing! I'm assuming that the eventual tapping of your phone will work as well as cards do now, so it should do away with the pesky "bike doesn't exist" and the like errors. Also, the NFC reader will eliminate jerk's ploy of scratching off QR codes, which I figure must be an effort to make more bikes available to them.

If you do encounter a bike with the QR scratched off you can still log into the mobile website and retrieve a code.

A friend of mine inadvertantly left their bikeshare outside of a TPL location for like two hours one time. Fretted that someone had stolen the bike and taken off with it. When we got back to the location the bike was still just sitting there untouched.

"Bike share revenue is up 30% compared to last year, and now has 300k unique customers. That is 10% of the population of Toronto! I also think that their forecasts are a little pessimistic pinn ofing 2025 rides at 8.1 million. I forecast closer to 8.3M when the year is over."

Imagine what those numbers would look like if they actually had the entire year expansion in place by July 1st, as the promised last fall.

I would project this year's numbers would have been 10% better.

What was the holdup? I thought they were getting ahead of things last fall.

I don't know.

They did the same thing in Fall '23 - season 2024.

They got pre-approval to buy the bikes and stations in the fall on the express promise of early season rollout, then it didn't happen.

There has been a staff change at Bikeshare, we'll have to see if the new (acting for now) head manages to do any better.

In fairness to Bikeshare staff, I can say they haven't always found their Green P overlords as supportive as they would have liked.

I think because of sidewalk repairs, the docks on Lower Jarvis just south of The Esplanade have been moved to The Esplanade and George St S.

The split of trips between annual and casual users between Oct 1 2023 to Sept 30 2024 (ridership data is out of date...) over 6,594,451 trips:
Annual members: 582,523
Casual member: 6,011,928

We're now at 990 Bikeshare stations. Exactly 70 remaining from this year's planned rollout.

3 stations added in this image below to Central-East Scarborough.

Ellesmere/Scarborough Golf Club Road
Ellesmere/Nielson
Ellesmere/Mornelle (just west of Morningside)

Just south of the above a new duo on/off Lawrence, at Cedarbrae Library, and Lawrence/Scarborough Golf Club Road.

Also new to the south and west are Birchmount and Eglinton, and Kennedy and Corvette:

Along with Danforth Road and St. Clair:

Most of the rest of the growth are re-installs of stations removed for construction etc.

These include:

College/Bay
Huron/Harbord
King/Church
Exhibition GO

and more.
