Toronto Balliol Park | 99m | 30s | Collecdev-Markee | Diamond Schmitt

On Tuesday May 14 at 9:30am Toronto and East York Community Council will also be debating a development proposal for 87 – 107 Davisville Avenue and 108 – 128 Balliol Street.

The original plan was for a 12 storey condo with 176 units on Davisville and a 29 storey condo with 324 units on Balliol. The community was almost unanimously opposed to this proposal.

It would be nice if the first floors of these buildings had some spaces for coffee shops, restaurants and other small stores.

Davisville is slowly getting bigger/taller. Allure north of Dville on Yonge is at grade and rising, and MYC at Merton/Yonge south of Davisville now topped out at 24 storeys has made a big impact on the feel of the neighbourhood. Already lots of bodies during the day but I expect this intersection to be a lively node in its own right in 10 years.

Drum, why was the community opposed? Lack of retail? Height? I can't believe it was affection for the townhouses (unless you rented one now, I guess).

Fun times getting on the subway at Davisville station c. 2018. I really liked the area when I lived there, but man, combine the proposals mentioned here, that new condo at Merton, and who knows what else, and I can see the day where you'll have to get the train pretty much at 6:00am or wait for at least five to go by.

I agree - I lived at Davisville for 3 years and getting on the southbound train was an absolute nightmare.

Many mornings would involve waiting for 2 or 3 trains to pass before being able to get on

April 20: nothing happening yet, but the townhomes are now vacant.
