The previous structure was a large warehouse whose main use was freight sorting for Canpar. Originally the property was swamp land and built over for industrial use, oil and gas storage iirc. Also, the adjacent slip was used as a boat launch.
 
it continuously amazes me the amount of stuff dug up on our lakefront through the condo boom. An amazing collection of stuff beneath our feet given this city's relatively short (colonized) history.
 
Wow, that takes me back. In some ways, 2006 feels like it was yesterday, others it seems prehistoric.
the rail spur in front of Redpaths was only ripped up 10 years ago.. it's almost hard to believe now. Hell even Captain John's getting removed feels like forever ago now but also just yesterday..
 
I used to drive along that stretch of QQE in late 2000's and early 2010's every day. The changes in the area is tremendous! I wish the entire south side was just one big Sugar Beach/Park, but it is nice to see the area more lively with people.
Haha, yeah, not much happens in sugar beach parks from October to April:)
