Toronto 839 Yonge | 160.2m | 49s | CT REIT | Adamson

I think this development beautifully put together. Rebuilding a new stellar Canadian Tire store below as the podium. And keeping the old facade in the front with the Canadian Tire logo on it. Not to mention the towers above having greenery on top of the podium as seen in the photos on the previous page! REAL NICE another skyscraper!

This is a practical joke right?

This alien mothership barely cloaked by a design seen a hundred times isn't really on Yonge Street is it?

It's actually hovering over top of the only heritage building in Mississauga right? Mad photoshop skills though.

It's CT. You know what their products are like. Why would you expect better from their REIT?

Here it is , less blurificated

It looked better before...

;)

Edit: I don't mind the tower design, but the boxy grid needs to carry all the way down.

...on the otherhand, looks like that Canadian Tire is getting a bit more elbow room, goodness!

I previously noted here that the design for this site absolutely needed to include a bridge of some sort over the subway tracks, providing a park link from Yonge Street to the Rosedale Valley park/ravine system.

This has a been a City and Resident Association priority for a very long time.

I've already expressed my frustration with CT and the firms it hired for producing an unambitious, mediocre design that will earn it community opposition instead of support.

At any rate, I just came across some comments on a new Secondary Plan for Bloor-Yorkville on the ABC residents association site which are worth noting here.

Ha, they did. Except theirs is a poor copy with plenty of cheapening cause they can't afford to build a cantilevered structure.

People at Adamson actually got paid to rip off BIG's original design, but to build it at a fraction of the cost. All that time in architecture school and no originality to show for it!

I don't mind the design (though it should extend to the top/bottom)...but the base looks ridiculous.
