From these comments. I have to wonder concerned citizen why you choose to live downtown? It does not sound very suiting for you.

I've lived dt for 10 yrs and couldn't imagine not living dt. But ppl forget that in these buildings there are far more people living then in suburbs. So when these marathons, protests from queens park going down Yonge street and construction go on more people's living and daily lives are effected then say the suburbs.

But please google that case number it's a page 24 document and 22 is map 1 current outline map 2 is proposed and there it shows how the new building goes all the way to the traffic lights so 10 x worse visibility then right now as a giant glass building is covering entire view of pedestrian side walks.

The cladding can look sharp if executed well - but gawd the rooftop additional on the slab might look awkward:
