They are not gonna pay 42 million for property to build a low rise. High rise here is guaranteed.

hmm it'll suck not to have a future shop in the area though .. !

I hope that the streamline moderne building directly south of the Future Shop from the 1930's is not destroyed.

That's the Anne Johnston Health Station a not-for-profit community health centre providing a wide range of programs and services that promote the health and well-being of youth, seniors and people with physical disabilities. It was originally built as Toronto Police Station #12. I am positive the building has a heritage designation.

It is now a presentation centre for Sherwood Park Townhomes http://www.sherwoodparktownhouse.ca/
People in the area are really not happy about the project (surprise, surprise...) There is a website to to stop it and lawn signs can be seen throughout the neighborhood. http://densitycreep.ca/

I honestly wonder what the market will be for this (the site not the presentation center), there are quite a few big stores for lease in this area already, I'm not sure there's huge demand for retail space, not at the level they're talking about (i.e. 5 floors / 50,000).

Demolition of the former Bank of Montreal building now well underway - was driving by, so do not have a photo.
